BACK to BASICS!

Now that fall is here people are focusing on back to school, back to regular work schedules, back to normal. In the business world fall is a perfect time to strengthen customer service skills. Let’s get back to basics and shine some light on why excellent follow up is important for every business.

Customer relationship management, or contact management, is quite simply the process you use to manage and keep track of your customers. This is what helps you keep the clients that you have and it boosts your reputation for outstanding customer service.

Customers want to feel valued, and they want to have a great relationship with the sales people that they frequently work with. They want to know that when they leave a voicemail or a message for their sales person it will be returned in a timely matter. They want to feel as though they are the only customer.

Achieving customer relationship management requires a plan and excellent follow through of that plan. Here are some “back to basics” tips in achieving excellent customer relationship management in your business:

• Always document and update client information on a regular basis.

• Keep track of all conversations with your clients by noting important information. Be sure to note the date and time in your records.

• Make a list of reasons why you need to contact your clients and establish a timeline for how often.

By strengthening your customer relationship management skills you will achieve longevity with clients and be well on the road to maintaining growth in your business. This fall, I encourage you to get back to basics and focus on excellent customer follow up!
